Recently shocking news came out, that the eight employees of the Qatar-based company who were arrested last year in August 2022, have announced a death sentence for all eight employees who had been arrested on October 26, 2023.
All eight employees are Indian including, “Captain “Navtej Singh Gill“, Captain “Saurabh Vasisht”, Commander “Purnendu Tiwari”, Captain “Birendra Kumar Verma“, Commander “Sugunakar Pakala”, Commander “Sanjeev Gupta”, Commander “Amit Nagpal” and Sailor “Ragesh“
The Qatar government arrested those employees after they got to know that the company was spying for Israel and passing sensitive documents. Qatar government arrested those Indian employees because there were some allegations that the men were spying on behalf of Israel.
Why Ex Indian Navy Officers Detained in Qatar?
After the Qatar court’s death sentence for those employees, the Ministry of External Affairs released a statement in which they said, “We are deeply shocked by the verdict of the death penalty and are awaiting the detailed judgment.
We are in touch with the family members and the legal team, and we are exploring all legal options,” said a statement released by the ministry.” We attach high importance to this case and have been following it closely.
We will continue to extend all consular and legal assistance. We will also take up the verdict with Qatari authorities. Due to the confidential nature of proceedings of this case, it would not be appropriate to make any further comment at this juncture” the statement said.
How many Indian Navy Officers in Qatar Jail?
There are a total of eight employees who were arrested last year on suspicion of the crime. The employees are probably Indian as per reports. Well, the sentence was not made public. The families of those employees are in sorrow.
The website of the company is longer exists, the Qatar government closed the company in May 2022 after the employees were arrested. Along with those employees, the owner of the company was also arrested but later in November 2022, he was released.
