Gloria Hunniford’s Daughter Caron Keating
Hunniford’s daughter Caron Keating was born on 5 October 1962. She died on 13 April 2004 due to breast cancer. Caron was diagnosed with breast cancer when she was 34 and passed away from the disease at 41.
The 83-year-old presenter, Gloria tells about her late daughter. “Caron never talked about losing her battle – she only ever talked about life. Her whole attitude to cancer was positive. We all tapped into that, and she became the teacher.”
“When my daughter, Caron, was diagnosed with breast cancer, she discovered some complementary treatments in Australia and decided to move out there to pursue them.
She added, “She ended up staying for three years, and Irish mothers never want their children to be further than around the corner, so her being so far away at such a difficult time caused me great heartache.”
Gloria once said that she had traveled to Australia several times to visit her daughter before she died.
She explains, “Initially I had been resentful that Australia had taken Caron away, but when I saw the freedom it had given her and remembered some of the happy moments before she eventually returned to our home in Kent for her final days.”
Cancer Charity in Daughter’s Name Caron Keating Foundation
Ms. Gloria Hunniford opened a cancer charity in honor of her late daughter with her daughter’s name, the Caron Keating Foundation. Via the foundation, she helps individuals and families affected and dealing with cancer.
Gloria tearfully revealed about her daughter on the Loose Women show.
“When we lost Caron – and her anniversary was just last week – I was determined in my own head, that her children, Charlie and Gabriel would mark occasions like Mother’s Day, like Christmas, like her birthday,” she added.
“But on the date of her passing, I try to keep it quite light.”
“And that’s why I always like to talk about Caron to keep her alive in spirit and for her two boys,” she added, It’s really important for me that they learn – cause they’re now in their 20s and I think for parents, grandparents in my case, you have to remind them that these days should be thought of.”
