Edwin Cortes Emmaus High School Car Accident Death:
Edwin Cortes was a 16-year-old teenager who was pursuing his education at Emmaus High School. Along with his education, he also worked part-time jobs to save up for his dream car according to his sister.
The incident took place on October 31, Tuesday at South Cedar Crest Boulevard and North Street in Emmaus. At around 2:30 P.M. of that day, the car in which Edwin was sitting in the back seat collided with another car, and a fatal crash occurred.
He was pronounced dead at 3:23 p.m., and the cause of his death was said to be blunt force injuries to the torso. Cortes has left behind his parents, “Edwin Marty” and “Tiffany Elchin” along with his three sisters and two brothers.

According to the website, $32,110 has been collected by Thursday morning to help offset funeral expenses for Cortes. The goal of raising funds was at $10,000 but as of now, the total funds collected is more than three times the goal.
According to the “GoFundMe” website, Leah Cortes is organizing this fundraiser and 846 donations have been made so far according to the site.
In the description of the GoFundMe site it was written, “My name is Tiffany Elchin and my loving 16-year-old son Edwin was killed in a car crash today. He is survived by his mother, father, sisters, and brothers. We are trying to raise money to give him a proper burial.”
Edwin Cortez Obituary and Funeral:
The recently released statement by police said, that there were three other people in the car with Cortes and described them as students and former students at the high school. Although, police cleared that Edwin died because of several injuries but they didn’t say how many.
They also revealed that the other vehicle was occupied only by the driver. Cedar Crest Boulevard was closed on Wednesday morning between Pine Street and Chestnut Street for police investigation.
After this fatal accident, the school got an email from the district, the email said, “The death of a student is always a sad and troubling event that can often have a profound effect on friends, classmates and staff, we are here to support all of our East Penn families during this time of grief.”
The day after Edwin’s shocking death, a memorial was set up at the school sign where the fatal accident occurred. As per reports, the monument was made of flowers, balloons, a sign that said “Love” and candles with religious imagery. Along with it, a group of students brought pink roses, white roses, and white carnations.
