Cal Wilson died from a short illness at Sydney’s Royal Prince Alfred Hospital on Wednesday 11 October. The exact cause of her demise is not yet confirmed by the doctors and her family. She was just 53 years old.
The New Zealand-born comedian, Cal Wilson had a 20-year career in the entertainment industry. She moved to stand-up comedy in 1997 and later she won the “Best Newcomer” award at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
She appeared in a number of the Australian comedy shows SkitHOUSE, Thank God You’re Here, Good News Week, Spicks and Specks, The Project, Show Me the Movie!, Would I Lie to You? Australia, Have You Been Paying Attention? and Hughesy, We Have a Problem, and the New Zealand TV show 7 Days.
Cal Wilson’s death news was confirmed by her management team after issuing a statement “We are devastated to share the news that Cal Wilson, the much-loved stand-up comedian, writer, and actor died today, surrounded by family and friends after a short illness at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney.”

Cal Wilson has been reported died after a brief ailment but the name of the illness has not been revealed. There are some speculations that she was diagnosed with cancer. But, there is no information on weather she had cancer or not.
Mr. Wilson had most recently hosted the seventh season of The Great Australian Bake Off alongside Natalie Tran and new judges Darren Purchese and Rachel Khoo.
The co-hosts have paid tribute on their social media. Darren Purchese, Australian chef and writer, took to Instagram to share the news just an hour after her demise. He wrote, “I am utterly devastated to hear my beautiful friend Cal is no longer with us…💔💔”
