Al Dahra Case: Al Dahra, a Qatar-based company shut down after the Qatar government came to know that this company was spying on Israel. The company was shut down in May 2022, the employees of the company were also arrested and recently they all got a death sentence by Qatar court.
Al Dahra Case: Why Al Dahra Shut Down?
Al Dahra, a submarine firm that trained Qatar’s armed forces and security agencies, was shut down in May 2023. The reason behind its shutting down was that the company was spying for Israel and passing sensitive documents. In this case, there were eight Indian employees who were arrested last year in August.
Those employees recently on October 26, 2023, got a death sentence by the Qatar court. Regarding this case “The Ministry of External Affairs” has released a statement in which it was written that, “We are deeply shocked by the verdict of the death penalty and are awaiting the detailed judgment.
We are in touch with the family members and the legal team, and we are exploring all legal options,” said a statement released by the ministry.” We attach high importance to this case and have been following it closely.
Qatar Issued The death Penalty to Indian Navy Officers in Espionage:
The employees who got the death sentence are Indians and come from different cities of India. The eight employees are, “Captain “Navtej Singh Gill“, Captain “Saurabh Vasisht”, Commander “Purnendu Tiwari”, Captain “Birendra Kumar Verma“, Commander “Sugunakar Pakala”, Commander “Sanjeev Gupta”, Commander “Amit Nagpal” and Sailor “Ragesh“.
They all were working to oversee the induction of the Italian small stealth submarine U2I2. The eight naval personnel were arrested on undeclared charges of spying for Israel. Well, the authorities in Qatar never gave an explanation of the exact reasons for their arrest as per the reports.
The officers who were arrested, got some relief after the prison was transferred from solitary confinement to double-bed accommodation. Along with this, phone access and family visits were also allowed by Qatari authorities.
