Jimmie’s race team, Legacy Motor Club, said on Twitter “The Johnson family has asked for privacy at this time and no further statements will be made.”
Why Did Jimmie Johnson Leave Nascar?
Jimmie Johnson, 47, is a co-owner of the Legacy Motor Club and also part of this season’s race, returned to NASCAR after retiring in 2020. Unfortunately, his wife’s parents, Terry Janway, and Jack Janway, and her 11-year-old nephew, Dalton Janway found dead on 26th June around 9 pm. The Police believed it was a murder-suicide case.
According to “Legacy Motor Club” the seven-time NASCAR Champion Jimmie Johnson has been part of two races this season-Circuit of the Americas (COTA) on 26th March and the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway on 28th May.
In the wake of the tragedy involving his family, NASCAR’s authority announced that “it had withdrawn the No. 84 Chevrolet from Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race at the Chicago Street Course”
He was scheduled to fourth time to drive the vehicles for this season but now he is not part of NASCAR’s event.
