Shandon Floyd Columbia SC: A lifeless body of a transgender woman was found dead this week in South Carolina. Her family is concerned regarding whereabouts of her and initial police reports suggest no foul play was involved in her death.

The dead body was found dead in an empty house in north Richland County by police and later identified as Shanon Floyd of Mullins a day after her mother Amecil Floyd, reported her daughter missing in Columbia on Tuesday, 8 November.
Amecil Floyd told local ABC affiliate WPDE that her daughter went to attend a football game and was staying with a group of friends at a local Roadway Inn. She reportedly missed after asking one of her friends to borrow a car around 3 a.m. to drive a man from the group to a store.
According to the police, surveillance captured the couple leaving the store, but she was not heard. On Tuesday, 14 November. Police say they have no reason to suspect illegal play at this point but are awaiting the result of an autopsy.
Missing Trans Woman Found Dead
Shandon Floyd, a 20-year-old transgender woman was discovered dead in Columbia last week and her family members believe that she was murdered because of her sexuality.
Her mother Floyd said, “When my baby left me Thursday, I never thought that it would be the last time I would see my baby alive.”
“It was just on me so bad. And something said, call your baby. I normally keep up, looking at him on social media. I followed all the platforms and I noticed that she hadn’t been posting. And I said, let me call my baby something ain’t right so, so, I called him, he didn’t answer,” said Floyd.
Shannon’s mother texted one of her friends regarding what happened to her.
“I texted a friend, and I said, where is my baby? And I kind of said it with boldness. Because, I’m like why isn’t she answering her phone? Never texted me back. Gave my number to somebody that I didn’t know. That person called me 15 minutes later.
She added, “Saying, oh well, she took my car last night. She went to the store. I believed it then. But, after doing my own investigation in Columbia I saw that the store was 20 feet away. Why would she need your keys to go to the store? Then I learned that she left with some man that she didn’t know.”

Floyd’s family believes her death was a murder and a hate crime. “We know it just wasn’t no up-and-die thing,” Floyd’s grandmother, Bonnie Platt Scott, told WPDE. “It was done. It was done to [her]. And Lord, I can just imagine what [she] was going through. I can just imagine. [She] was such a sweet kid. [She] wouldn’t even harm a fly.”
Mason Powell, a close friend, told local CBS affiliate WLTX, “Shandon was a very fun person, the life of the party, kindhearted, would give you the shirt off her back, When I met her, she was like a light.
he added, “She was definitely the friend to get to know and the person to be around if you want to have a great time. And, you know, she loved her family and her brothers. She definitely loved them.”
