Sarah Parish, 55, and her husband, actor James Murray, lost their daughter Ella-Jayne to a hereditary heart defect.
Sarah clarified, “I had a neat bump, I felt well, and the 20-week scan had been clear, so when the consultant walked in, concerned that the baby was small for her dates, it came as a bolt from the blue.”
Sarah’s daughter Ella-Jayne Murray had a hole on her heart and a defective valve, a common symptom of Rubinstein-Taybi syndrome, a rare genetic disorder that affects many organ systems, Ella was diagnosed with it and later had surgery.
Afterward, Sarah said, “After the surgery, we really felt that, though Ella-Jayne might have some challenges, everything was going to be OK.”
Sarah’s daughter died on 3 January 2009 after battling with severe ailment.
Sarah emotionally explained, “My husband and I grieved in different ways, I think men and women do, But I kept having to remind myself that it wasn’t like losing a healthy child, we had an extremely sick daughter, and we lost her. Our grief was huge, but we had something rational to hold onto.”
She gave birth to her second daughter, Nell on 21 November 2009. She is currently 14 years old as of 2023.
She recently shared an Instagram post in memory of her late daughter, where she wrote in the caption, “Today you are 15. How lucky we are to have known you. Who knew such a little girl could make such a big difference. We love you, forever and always.💜”
