Sarah was first married to a music lecturer Gary Hargreaves in 1985 at the age of 21. The couple had been in a romantic relationship for years before they were married, the couple welcomed two sons, Thomas who was born in 1987, and Matthew in 1988, they filed for divorce and separated in 1995.
Then she met with a British television producer and executive, Peter Salmon, he proposed to Sarah in 2001 and they wedded in 2001. They welcomed their first son Joseph in 2003.

Lancashire married television executive Peter Salmon in August 2001 at Langar Hall, Nottinghamshire in a low-key ceremony after Peter had proposed to Lancashire in New York during a holiday.
Peter and Sarah have been married for 22 years and the couple resides in a £3m, five-bedroom house in Twickenham, southwest London with family.
Salmon also had three sons from his previous relationship with her estranged wife Penny Watt. Peter Salmon is a former Chief Creative Officer of the Endemol Shine Group and has been the Executive Chairman of Banijay UK since 2020.
He has been the director of the first dramatic reconstruction to be featured on the crime series Crimewatch.
