Sarah Katz was a “Penn University” student who died after drinking Panera Bread’s Charged Lemonade. The cause of her death was “Cardia arrest” which was caused due to excessive caffeine consumption.
According to reports, the lemonade that Sarah drank contained more coffee than three cans of Red Bull. Although Sarah was also suffering from a disease called, “long QT syndrome type 1” which is a heart-signaling disorder where heartbeats can be fast and chaotic.
In the disease that Sarah was suffering from, it is recommended not to drink things like tea, coffee, fizzy drinks, and high-energy drinks. But Sarah drank around 390 mg of caffeine through that lemonade which increased her heart rate and unfortunately, this tragedy happened.

Well, Sarah was suffering from a dangerous disease called, “long qt syndrome type 1“, sources say that it is a congenital cardiac syndrome that’s caused by a mutation in the KCNQ1 gene. In this disease, doctors recommend avoiding certain medications that may trigger abnormal heart rhythms, including “Energy Drinks”.
Regarding Sarah’s death, her college roommate “Victoria Rose Conroy” said, “Sarah ordered the large “Charged Lemonade”, “I guarantee if Sarah had known how much caffeine this was, she never would have touched it with a 10-foot pole.”
Well, on the same day after having that drink, she was dining with her friend at a restaurant in her apartment, and suddenly she suffered a cardiac arrest. According to reports, it was also noticed that the drink she had, contained guarana extract, which is a stimulant of nearly 30 teaspoons of sugar.
