Mel Giedroyc and her best friend Martin Clunes Explore Britain by the Book, to be aired on 6th September night (Wednesday) on ITV1 with its first episode.
Mel Giedroyc, 55, and Martin Clunes, 61 bring the show together on ITV1 Channel, which aims to explore the country’s stunning view which has inspired many books and their cinematic adaptations.
Actress and television presenter, Mel has her eye on Belfast, a destination for a second series while promoting her new show, should the first prove popular: “I’ve become obsessed with Belfast. I’ve got about 20 books either set in or written by Belfast authors. I’m on a bit of a mission.”
Mel is a talented actress, television presenter, and host, best known for her comedy and presenting work with her long-time friend Sue Perkins co-hosting The Great British Bake Off for the BBC, Light Lunch for Channel 4, and chat show Mel and Sue,
She added, “One of my kids is at Belfast uni and I’d never been and I went over to settle her in and we were just obsessed.
“The whole family has become obsessed with Northern Ireland. The coast! My gosh! It’s phenomenally beautiful. I quite like the idea of reading a tonne of books just associated with one place. It must be because of doing this show, subliminally.”
Martin Clunes, 61, is best known for portraying Martin Ellingham in the ITV comedy-drama series Doc Martin and Gary Strang in Men Behaving Badly and narrated a number of programs on ITV.
