Rhonda Marchi of Port Angeles was charged with attempted murder on Christmas Day for allegedly attempting to kill her daughter by combining prescription medications in grape juice in 2006.
McKenna, who is now living with her father, A.J. Hardy, in Idaho. She testified during the trial that her father had never harmed her.
During Marchi’s initial court appearance in Clallam County Superior Court, The charge of attempted murder was considered a first-degree felony because it had premeditation.
According to the certification for probable cause that was submitted to the court by the Port Angeles Police Department, written by Detective Jesse Winfield, Marchi contacted 9-1-1 at approximately 2:00 a.m.
Judge Ken Williams had given himself a 20-year sentence in prison but later it was reduced and she was sentenced to only 12 years of her life in prison.

During the trial, Rhonda Marchi said that she wanted to protect her daughter McKenna from her father. According to her typed suicide letter, Marchi wrote that her only choice was “to take her to Heaven with me.”
As per reports, Ms. Marchi was not allowed to directly and indirectly contact her daughter until she turned 19. Kenna Renee lives with her father A.J Hardy in Idaho.
Claire Schwarz, who was a family friend, of Port Angeles said not being allowed to contact McKenna is the worst part of the sentence for Marchi. “That in itself is a sentence,” he said after the hearing.
Recently Kenna Hardy Renee took to her social media account to share the details about her past incident: She shared a TikTok video with the title “My mom tried to murder me.”
McKenna and Hardy addressed Judge Williams via speakerphone from Boise, Idaho. Hardy told Williams, We are very pleased with the outcome,”
Rhonda Marchi cried during the conversation and her daughter McKenna said, ‘Don’t trust mom’ “I still don’t trust my mom,”
“One thing I do know is that no one should deal with what I’ve been through.”
McKenna said inspired to become a pediatrician because the doctors who saved her life told Williams that she still has trouble taking any sort of medicine because of her mother’s attempt to kill her. “I will get shaky and will get a bad stomach ache and feel like throwing up,” she said.
