Joanna Yeates, 25, who lived with her boyfriend, Greg Reardon, in Bristol. The couple were excited about Christmas in 2010 and had plans for a party with friends at their flat. However, her boyfriend, Greg Reardon, went to visit his family in Yorkshire for the weekend before Christmas.
While her boyfriend was away, Joanna went out for a drink with friends after work on 17 December. Afterward, she returned home, bought a pizza on her way, and got back around 8:30 p.m.
What happened next is known only to one person who is still alive. What we do know is that Vincent Tabak knocked on Joanna Yeates’ door and entered her flat shortly after she came back. This was the first time they had met. Vincent Tabak had been living in a neighboring flat with his girlfriend for about 18 months.

Vincent Tabak, who was an occupant of the third flat of the same building where Joanna lived with her partner, was arrested on 20 January 2011 after a brief investigation of the case.
He was charged with Yeates’s murder on 22 January 2011. He pleaded guilty to Yeates’s manslaughter but denied murdering her. His trial began on 4 October, he was found guilty of murder, and sentenced to life imprisonment with 20 years.

The case of Joanna Yeates began when she was shortly disappeared from her flat during the festive period. Afterward, her dead body was found on a snowy roadside verge on Christmas morning.
The police investigated and found, that she was murdered by her neighbor Vincent Tabak. He claimed after being detained as suspicious that Joanna Yeates invited him to her flat and made a flirty remark after chatting in the kitchen.
He also claimed that she screamed, and to stop her he grabbed her throat with his right hand and placed his left hand on her mouth. After about 20 seconds she fell lifeless on the floor.
Tabak pleaded guilty to manslaughter but denied murder. He said in the court that his motive was not to murder her when he tried to kiss her and she began to scream then she died while stopping her. He is now serving his sentence at HMP Wakefield.
