On 23 October, (Monday), Longtime WLS-TV personality Harry Porterfield died after a short illness. At the time of his death, he was 95 years old.
He died, surrounded by his family in Munster, and they confirmed that he died because of natural causes. Harry left his wife “Marianita Hicks Porterfield”, four children, a grandchild, and a great-grandchild.
Harry began his illustrious television career in Chicago at CBS 2 in 1964, starting as a newswriter, but because of his rich voice, he was destined to be on the air. He was born on Aug. 29, 1928, in Saginaw, Michigan.
His wife “Marianita” said, “He was pleased with his career. He liked what he was doing, and the ‘Someone You Should Know’ just thrilled him, and the people he would run into from that gave him great joy,”

Harri has worked for almost 51 years in the media industry, he joined CBS 2 in 1964, where he worked as a news anchor. Harry also worked at WLS-TV for 24 years before returning to WBBM in 2009.

Well, his only granddaughter, “Amanda Porterfield”, continues her grandfather’s legacy and she is a respected news anchor in Milwaukee as per reports.
